Colonial pipeline 87 conventional gasoline is the most actively traded gasoline market in the world, providing price discovery in the main US Gulf coast refining region and determining values in the US midcontinent. The Colonial pipeline transports fuel from the Gulf coast throughout the eastern US up to New York.
Argus’ clean products methodology has been widely accepted by the industry as being the most representative. Argus Colonial 87 conventional gasoline prices are used in long-term contracts, downstream pricing, transfer pricing, spot sales, and increasingly in the export market. Argus Colonial conventional gasoline prices are used as the clearing index for CME-listed swaps.
Argus Colonial 87 conventional gasoline assessments are calculated using a market-appropriate methodology based on every spot trade available over the entire trading day. Prices are represented as the low and high, and volume-weighted averages of deals transacted, and are indexed to the CME Nymex settlement price.
